5 Healthy Soup Recipes For Your Toddler
It is not easy to make fussy toddlers eat healthy food items. But this arduous task can be made easy by soups. Most kids love soups. For optimum health benefits, make soups with healthy ingredients like vegetables and lentils instead of pastas etc.
Here are 5 simple soup recipes that you can prepare for your toddler-
- Cauliflower- 1 (cut into small florets)
- Potato- 1 (cut)
- Onion- 1 (chopped)
- Vegetable Stock- 700 ml
- Cheddar cheese- 100 gm
- Milk- 400ml
- Salt to taste
Heat the butter in a saucepan and cook onion in it till they turn soft. Toss in all the ingredients except cheese. Bring to a boil and simmer for 30 minutes on low flame. Blend in a food processor afterwards. Serve hot with cheese shreds used as garnishing.
Vegetable and Dal soup
- Green moong dal- 1 tbsp.
- Chopped tomatoes- 1/4 cup
- Finely chopped cabbage- 1/2 cup
- Chopped spinach- 1 tbsp.
- salt to taste
Crumbled paneer (cottage cheese)- 1 tbsp. (for garnishing)
Take all the ingredients in a pressure cooker and add a cup of water. Cook for 2-3 whistles. Blend in a food processor when the mixture down. Take the blended mixture in a saucepan, add salt and let it come to a boil. Garnish with paneer before serving.
Beetroot Carrot Soup
- Beetroot cubes- 1/4 cup
- Carrot cubes- 1/3 cup
Take beetroot and carrot in a pressure cooker, add in 1/4 cup water and cook till 3 whistles. Blend to get smooth soup. Add a little more water and cook the soup for a few minutes. Serve lukewarm.
- Red pumpkin cubes- 3 cups
- Chopped onions- 1/4 cup
- Fresh cream- 1/4 cup
- Butter- 2 tbsp.
- salt black pepper powder to taste
- Chopped spring onion greens- 2 tbsp. (for garnishing)
Heat the butter in a saucepan and cook onions in it. Add pumpkin cubes and saute for a few minutes. Add 3 cups water, salt and pepper. Cook till the pumpkin becomes soft. Let it cool down. Blend in a mixer and add cream. Boil again. Garnish with greens and serve to your toddler.
Quick Lentil Soup
- Green Moong bean – 2 tbsp
- Turmeric powder – a pinch
- Salt to taste
Take the moong dal and turmeric in a pressure cooker and add a cup of water. Pressure cook till 3 whistles. Mash and strain. Add more water as needed, add salt and boil the puree. Serve lukewarm.
