5 Quick Dinner Ideas For Kids

Making quick dinners for kids may not seem tough but if you want it to be nutritious then you need some good recipes. Healthy food is not always time taking and there are many recipes that you can prepare quickly for your kids that taste good as well.

Try these Quick Dinner Ideas For Kids-

Pasta Omelette


  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables, cut into small pieces
  • 2 cups cooked spaghetti
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 cup grated cheese


Heat oil in a pan and stir fry the vegetables. Add pasta and cook for 5 minutes.

Whisk eggs with milk, salt and pepper. Stir in cheese.

Pour the egg mixture over cooking pasta. Let cook for 2 minutes.

Flip the omelette over and cook from the other side.

Chicken With Honey


  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • Salt and ground pepper
  • 4 cups crisp rice cereal
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 1/2 pounds chicken tenders
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons mustard
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 4 medium carrots, cut into sticks
  • 1 cucumber, cut into sticks


Preheat oven to 475.

Take the cereal and oil in a food processor and process to get a fine mixture. Take out and season with salt and pepper.

Season flour with salt and pepper in a separate bowl. In the same way, take egg in another bowl and season with salt and pepper.

Take a chicken tender and dip in in flour, then dip it in egg and finally coat with the cereal mixture. Do this for all chicken pieces.

Arrange the pieces on a baking sheet and bake for about 15 minutes till they turn golden brown on both sides.

Mix sour cream, mustard, honey, salt and pepper in a bowl to make a dip.

Serve chicken tenders with the dip.

Suji Uttappam


  • 1 cup semolina (suji)
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger
  • 1 cup curds
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp chopped green chillies
  • salt to taste
  • oil for cooking


Heat a pan and roast suji for 2 minutes.

Take the roasted suji in a bowl and mix with ginger and curd. Adjust consistency with water.

Keep aside for 40 minutes.

Add salt.

Heat oil in a pan and pour batter on it and spread in circular motion.

Sprinkle onion, tomato and green chilli.

Flip and cook from the other side.

Serve with sambhar or coconut chutney.

Rice with Soy Chunks


  • 1 cup rice
  • 1/4 cup soy chunks
  • 1/4 cup green peas
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 stick of cinnamon
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 bayleaf
  • 1 cardamom
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1 tsp oil
  • salt to taste
  • Paste of 3 garlic cloves


Soak the rice for 10 minutes. Drain and keep aside.

Take soy chunks and 1 cup water in a pressure cooker and add salt. Pressure cook for 2 whistles. Drain and keep aside.

Heat oil in the pressure cooker and add cumin seeds, cinnamon, cloves, bay leaf and cardamom..

Add onions, garlic paste and saute till the onion turn golden.

Add turmeric powder, garam masala, coriander powder, green peas, tomatoes, soy chunks and salt. Saute for 2 minutes.

Add 2 cups water and pressure cook for 2 whistles.

Veggie Paratha


  • 1 tbsp chopped fenugreek leaves
  • 1 tbsp grated bottle gourd
  • 1 tbsp grated carrot
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 2 tbsp yogurt
  • a pinch of turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp cumin seeds powder
  • salt to taste
  • Ghee for cooking


Take all the ingredients except ghee in a bowl and knead a soft dough.

Divide the dough into four equal portions and roll each into circles.

Heat a griddle and cook each paratha from both sides with some ghee.

Serve with yogurt.
