Food Ideas For 12+ Months Old Babies

Generally babies start having solid food other than milk after the completion of 6 months! As the baby grows the different requirements of the body in growth and development is compensated by the changing food recipes after each month! Subsequently the baby starts developing teeth and more solid forms of food can be given to them depending upon the digestive capability of the baby!

Here I will be sharing few recipes which are easy to digest and extremely healthy and packed with nutrition to meet the needs of the growing baby without putting a strain on the digestive system of the small baby!

Oats Recipe-


  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2-3 tbsp oats
  • Fruits ( apple or banana)

Method of Preparation-

  • In a thick pan, add 1 cup of water and 1 cup of milk and boil it.When the start boiling add oats and continue heating in low flame.
  • Keep stirring continuously.Serve when the hot porridge cools down.
  • For flavors, add tiny pieces apple. You can grate and add apple if you wish. Banana or dates can also be added.

Semolina recipe : Porridge


  • Semolina
  • Milk
  • Any fruit (mango/chiku/banana)

Method of Preparation-

  • After one minute when the semolina/sooji starts getting brown add half a cup of milk and bring it to boil.
  • Now take any fruit such as chiku/mango/banana and blend it up in 2-3tbsp of milk separately just like fruit shake.
  • Add the blended mixture to hot soozi /semolina milk mixture.Fruit will add nice texture of the semolina/soozi and will make it filling for the baby.

Chickpea Tomato Soup-


  • Half cup boiled chickpea
  • 2 tomato puree
  • 1 onion chopped
  • A pinch of crushed ginger
  • 1 clove garlic
  • Turmeric, salt as per taste
  • Few coriander leaves

Method of Preparation-

Heat little oil in a small pan. Add the chopped onions with ginger and garlic and fry till onions gets soft and pink.

Now add the tomato puree and chickpeas and continue to stir. Add salt and turmeric, pour half cup of water, cover the pan and let it simmer for 10 minutes till the tomatoes are cooked.

Pour the mixture in a blender along with the coriander leaves and blend till smooth puree. Add more water if the consistency is too thick.

Oats & Apple Pie Recipe-


  • 1 spoon full of oats powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • A pinch or two cinnamon powder
  • Half an apple puree
  • 1 spoon honey

Method of Preparation-

  • Firstly, take an apple, peel, remove the core and slice it. Steam or pressure cook it, and make a puree.
  • Take 1 spoon of oats powder in a pan, dry roast it for 1-2 min. Add a cup of milk and a spoon of sugar.
  • Mix the apple puree in it, sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon powder in it.
  • For additional nutritional value, add a spoon of almond powder, and it is ready to serve!
