Healthy Snacks For Toddlers During Winters

Snacks are important for active and growing kids. It is important to feed them in between the meals with healthy snacks. During winters, your child may have a stronger urge for snacks. To help her eat healthy this winter, we take a look at a few healthy snacks that you can feed your baby with.

Bread Upma:

A South Indian style Bread Upma is a tasty treat for your baby. It is easy to prepare as well. For this, you will need bread slices, onion, tomato, curry leaves, salt & sambhar powder. First cut the bread into small square pieces & roast until it is brown in color. Heat oil in a pan & add curry leaves & onion and sauté till onions appear transparent. Then add sambhar powder, turmeric powder , tomatoes & salt. Cook until the tomatoes are soft. Add bread pieces & mix well till the bread is well covered in masala. Serve hot.

Oatmeal Pancakes:

Oats are extremely beneficial especially in winters. Since they are whole grains, they are rich in fiber & proteins. To prepare these, you will need wheat flour, oats, milk, curd, baking powder, butter, sugar & salt. Mix milk, curd, salt, sugar & oil in a bowl. Mix wheat flour, oats & baking powder in another bowl & pour the wet ingredients into the dry ones & mix well. Heat oil in a pan & add some batter prepared above & cook on medium flame till the bottom part turns golden brown. Flip over & cook for another minute. Remove & serve with honey or maple syrup.

Deviled Eggs:

As we all know, eggs are a rich source of proteins. This is a great recipe to feed your baby in winters. Place eggs in a saucepan & cover with water. Bring it to a boil & let the eggs sit in hot water for 10-12 minutes. Remove from hot water & cool. Peel & cut in half. Remove the yolk & mix salt & pepper until the mixture is smooth. Refill each egg white with the prepared mixture & serve.

Cheesy Corn & Vegetable Cutlets:

This is a recipe for toddlers by Tarla Dalal. These are delicious & nutritious as well. To prepare this, you will need grated cheese, oil, cabbage, carrots, sweet corn cob, mashed potatoes & oil. Heat the butter in a pan & add the corn, cabbage, carrots & garlic. Mix them well & cook for 1-2 minutes. Put them in a bowl & let it cool. Add potatoes, cheese & salt & mix well once cooled. Make small round cutlets out of this mixture & heat in a non-stick pan till they turn brown in color. Serve with tomato ketchup.

Sooji Kheer:

Suji kheer is very famous for feeding infants & toddlers. To prepare this, take 100 gms of sooji & roast in ghee till it turns brown. Heat milk in a pan & add 1 tbsp of sooji & 1 tbsp of sugar as per your taste. Cook it on a low flame for 3-4 minutes & serve warm.
