Homemade Cerelac Recipe For Toddlers And Kids
As moms, you all are exceedingly particular about your Kid’s well being and this makes you very conscious about what your kid’s eat. The markets have a huge variety of nutritious food to offer for toddlers and kids, but….. Is it really nutritional enough or just a marketing gimmick???
Whatever the brands may claim but we know that there is nothing that can match up to nutritional levels of homemade foods. The first food that even doctors refer to baby and toddlers is Cerelac.
How about homemade cerelac?
No matter what a pack of Cerelac promises to be, no matter how much nutrition it claims to have but we all know that it cannot beat the Cerelac made at home.
This Cerelac recipe will constitute multiple grains and dry fruits and it can be had by babies above 7-8 months, toddlers and even adults if desired. It is more like nutritious flour. Dig in to know the recipe.
These ingredients are easily available, you can get them from departmental stores or from local grocery shop.
- Ragi – 1 cup
- Bajra – 1 cup
- Wheat – 1 cup
- Orange Corn – 1 cup
- White Corn – 1 cup
- Red / Brown Rice – 1 cup
- Green Gram – 1 cup
- Chana Dal – 1 cup
- Fried Gram – 1 cup
- Urad Dal – 1 cup
- Almonds – ½ cup
- Cashews – ½ cup
- Peanut – ½ cup
- Pistachios – ½ cup
- Cardamom – 2 pods
Step 1 – Soak all the grains i.e. Ragi, Bajra , Wheat , Both Corn, Green Gram and Chana Dal overnight and sprout each of them separately.
Step 2 – Now sundry the sprouted grains or you can dry them under a fan, as convenient.
Step 3 – Chop the dry fruits very finely and roast them slightly with little ghee in a wok. Keep the roasted dry fruits aside and allow it to cool.
Step 4 – Now light roast the grains one by one. Keep a watch and do not let the grains burn.
Step 5 – Mix all the ingredients with the cardamom.
Step 6 – Grind all the ingredients together and make a powder. Store it in an air tight container.
This powder can be stored in an air tight container for months at a dry place.
- You can make porridge by taking 2 tbsp. of homemade Cerelac in 1 cup of boiling water / milk. Mix more milk if required for desired consistency.
- If your toddler likes sweet flavor, Sugar / jaggery can be added
- You can also use dates syrup or raisins puree to give natural sweetness to the porridge
- Take any fruit like banana, chickoo, mango or apple and mix it with this paste.
